The America Bowl Playoff Championship is designed to bring more excitement and participating teams to the college football postseason that ultimately crowns a National Champion.
Campus Participation
The first round of the America Bowl Playoff Championship will be held at qualifying host schools rewarding the local fan base of each school and electrifying their stadiums. Â
Bowl Integration
The existing championships have already integrated the top tier bowls. The America Bowl Playoff Championship increases the use of lower tiered bowls to make them viable to the playoff series. Currently most lower tiered bowls struggle with financial issues resulting in reduced team participation financial incentives. Some bowls cannot meet the costs teams incur to play in their bowl games.Â
Player Participation
The current post season structure promotes the lower tiered bowls as "exhibition games" and opens the door for high-impact talented players to forego their teams bowl game to prepare for the NFL combine. This is usually a difficult decision for these players who would continue to play for their team if the bowl games were meaningful. The expanded playoff series assures that more players will finish their season playing for their team.
National Bracket Enthusiasm
Much like the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament, the America Bowl Playoff Championship will generate bracket awareness and participation when the national brackets are released to the public. Football "bracketology" becomes a hot discussion point amongst fans and even the casual viewer will want to get involved.
Follow the Money
First round and lower tiered bowls will sell out much like the major bowls. Packed stadiums provide increased local economic impact. The increased TV revenue streams suggested by correlating the established March Madness Nielsen ratings will enhance all bowl financial strengths. Lower tiered bowls will be able to increase their respective participation payouts.
